Hi, We are James and Jo and we own Abbotts View Alpacas CL. Our objective for the CL was to provide a peaceful haven.  Watching the alpacas play and graze, the wildlife and red kites over head and the stars at night when you can hear a pin drop. This place has been so therapeutic for us. It has changed our lives and we love to be able to share that with others. Meeting customers and making new friends has ben a real privilege and we are absolutely delighted that you voted us CL of the Year 2023, Most Unique.

Open from 28th March until 30th September.

Abbotts View Alpacas CL is an adult only site where the focus is on peace, quiet and relaxation. We are located in Aston Abbotts, the winner of bucks best kept village.

We breed alpacas and also have ducks, ponies, rare breed sheep and pigs, pygmy goats, guinea pigs and rabbits at the farm. The CL is next to our alpaca paddocks where you’ll be able to watch alpacas and their cria (baby alpacas) gently grazing. Due to their very inquisitive nature you will no doubt have them watching you too and they are particularly fond of laughing at people's reversing techniques!

There are 18 National trust attractions within a 30 minute drive of the site with Waddesdon manor just 10 minutes away and Ascott House just 4 miles. Woburn Abbey and Safari park is a 20 minute drive. There are many other attractions within easy reach including the very popular Bletchley Park (home of the code breakers) which is just a 25 minute drive or a 10 minute train ride from nearby Leighton Buzzard train station and drops you on the doorstep of Bletchley Park.

London is just a 30 minute train ride from nearby Leighton Buzzard. We are just 5 miles from the market towns of Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury and 17 miles from Milton Keynes (25 minute drive or the local Bus).

There is access to several countryside walks via the public footpaths just outside the main gate, one of which leads to the village green with easy access to the church. The neighbouring villages of Wingrave and Cublington are within walking distance and both have excellent pubs (with many more village pubs and restaurants just a short drive away). We have put in a private style so you can access the footpath to the Cublington directly from the site.

Aston Abbotts is a well known cycling route. Many cycling competitions include Aston Abbotts on their route. Please see the cycling maps available on this site.

The site is on high ground with beautiful views of the Chiltern Hills and Dunstable Downs. Overhead are many species of bird including red kites, barn owls, tawny owls with many other species in the nearby woodland including bull finch, chaffinch and woodpeckers. Light pollution is very low which allows for some spectacular skies at night and extremely quiet except for the noises of animals at night and the church bells during the day.

The site is flat and laid to lawn (awnings with breathable groundsheets only please). There is a freshwater point within the field and direct gated access to the green toilet disposal point. The elevated location gives wonderful views but you are advised to use storm straps on your awning if strong winds are forecast.

Power: The farm is an eco farm and is 100% powered by solar and wind. Electrical hook ups are 16 Amps and FREE OF CHARGE!! But no electrical heating. Kettles, toasters, televisions etc can all be used. However, we do not produce enough electricity for you to use electrical heating. So no electrical heating is permitted, heating must use an alternative fuel like Gas or Diesel. All our power is stored in a large battery bank but just one unit using electricity to power their heating will drain the system and cause a power cut making you very unpopular with other guests! To date this has only happened once in ten years! So a huge thanks goes out to all our guests for embracing our green credentials! There is no charge for electricity and this is provided on a trust basis. Please be conservative with electricity usage and switch off what is not needed/currently being used and use alternative fuel where you can.

Chemicals: Please ensure you read about our Chemical and Power policy  before booking. We only accept BlueBio Clear (A synthetic product that feeds treatment plants) or SolBio (100% natural and smells wonderful of eucalyptus). We can supply both onsite and you can reserve a bottle when you book. If you have used any other additive then please ensure that your chemical loo and flush is empty of any anti bacterial toilet chemicals before arriving as we cannot dispose of chemicals on site.

We have two onsite toilets, one of which is wheelchair accessible. We have our own ecological sewage treatment system which produces clean water for the local pond. It digests waste using naturally occurring bacteria and requires that you use an environmentally friendly toilet additive (or maybe use no additive at all). There are still not many truly green products on the market. However, we always have plenty (Blue Bio Clear and SolBio) in stock onsite should you need to purchase some. We buy it in bulk and pass the savings onto you.

The site is secure with CCTV cameras and an electric gate. A key fob will be provided for the electric gate.

New for 2024 is
- Free WiFi. We have superfast broadband available with a Wifi hotspot next to each pitch.
- Rent our Caravan. If you don't own a caravan/motorhome or you'd like to bring friends who do not have a caravan then we have a caravan available for hire for £60 per night (including pitch, electricity and gas).

We have additional parking available for visitors or an extra car by arrangement. Please ask first for visitors.
There is no charge for a motorhome with an additional car in tow.

Minimum stay: No minimum stay but we kindly request that single night bookings try and avoid weekends and bank holiday weekends. We have a 2 night minimum stay for the Rental Caravan.
Children: No Children, Adult Only
Dogs: No dogs as the CL is surrounded by alpacas and free range ducks. We do have two small dogs of our own but they are not allowed near the CL.
Other pets: Please ask. For example, we have successfully had people with house cats (that stay in) but cats that go out have caused the alpacas to alarm call all night which keeps everybody up and causes the animals stress.

Cost: £20 per night per pitch.
Rental Caravan £60 per night. (£20 pitch plus £40 for the caravan).
Power: All pitches include an electrical hook up. (16 Amp) but no electrical heating is permitted. Please use Gas for heating or cooking.
All pitches are grass (please call ahead to check ground in wet weather, especially for Motorhomes).

Last entry at 20:00 please.
Depart before 11:00 AM please.

All bookings are made online.

How to find us image

How to find us: If you are using google maps then simply search for Abbotts View Alpacas and it will bring you to our doorstep.
Manual Directions:
  • on A418 travelling from Aylesbury towards Leighton Buzzard (5 miles from both towns). Turn left sign posted Aston Abbotts and Cublington.
  • After approx 1 mile you will enter Aston Abbotts and pass a thatched pub (The Royal Oak) on your right. Be careful of oncoming traffic just past here as the road narrows and it is not obvious.
  • SatNav will direct you to take the next left turn onto The Green; ignore this. It is a residential cut through and parked cars can make it difficult for caravans. (motorhomes will be fine).
  • Instead, continue for 40 yds passing the bus stop and post box then take the next left at the village green sign posted "Weedon (gated road)".  Keep left.
  • Pass the next 2 left hand turns (the first is The Green but there is no sign, the 2 second is Hunters Way.) You are now on Moat Lane.
  • After approx 150yds turn right into a farm track road sign posted for Norduck House and Abbotts View Farm. If you miss it you will go around a sharp bend to the left and through the gate of the gated road.
  • Continue down the track, pass the driveway entrance to the cottages on your right.
  • Abbotts View Farm is the next turn on your right (approx 350 yds) just before the blue sign on the fence.
  • Beware: If you have an old garmin SatNav the post code will take you to a different Moat Lane in another village about 5 miles away!

Electrics and Chemicals imageElectrics and Chemicals imageElectrics and Chemicals image
ELECTRIC HOOK UPS: 16 AMP, no charge!!, but no electrical heating permitted!.
We produce our own electricity using solar and wind which is stored in a huge battery bank . This means we have to be very careful using it. We do have a backup diesel generator but it is extremely expensive to run and we don't really want to install electricity meters and charge for power (the per unit cost would shock you (excuse the pun!) at £1 per unit and rising with the fuel and energy crisis). So, electricity is provided on a trust basis. You can use kettles, toasters, hair dryers, televisions, etc but strictly no heating. So, no electric space heaters, water heaters. For heating and cooking please use gas. Please support our green credentials and use gas wherever possible and switch things off when not in use, especially electric water heaters (which are very poorly uninsulated) and switch off as much as possible overnight (when the sun has gone in and we're running on battery). Just one unit using electric heating will drain the whole battery bank and could cause a power outage.

CHEMICAL POLICY: NO ANTI BACTERIAL CHEMICALS IN TOILET OR FLUSH.
The only chemical toilet additives approved for use on our site are
SolBio and BlueBio Clear (We hope this list will grow as manufacturers adapt their products and remove aquatic life harmful dye)
Please do not use any other toilet additive.
IF IT'S NOT CLEAR or is ANTI BACTERIAL DO NOT USE.

Our eco friendly sewage treatment plant uses natural bacteria to process the waste and feed clean water to the fields and pond. It is similar to a brewery process where the microbes are required breed and ‘eat’ our waste. They are a bacteria so therefore no anti bacterial products of chemicals can be disposed of here.

No anti bacterial soap, washing up liquid, bleach, dettol or formaldehyde products can be emptied into our waste disposal.
Please note. Many (in fact, most) products say “good for septic tanks” on the label but are still anti bacterial so are not good for our system which is not a septic tank but a biological sewage treatment plant.

The output of the plant has to be very good quality, clear and uncontaminated water. The clean output is fed into a pond and dyes can change the colour of water and harm aquatic and other pond life.

Many toilet additives kill bacteria which would also kill the sewage treatment plant costing us £250 every time to have it reset.

I have contacted most manufacturers of chemical loo additives to ascertain which ones are safe for the environment, animals and in particular aquatic life. Unfortunately most are not. This includes all blue chemicals, pink rinse and most ‘green’ additives too.

Many ‘green’ toilet additives still contain chemicals and dyes. This includes, Elsan Organic, Fewwicks top n tail, One chem Pro Biotic, Blue Diamond.

Wessex chemicals, Blue Bio clear (Note must be the clear version) is an excellent non toxic, non harmful chemical that reacts with human waste. It contains no dye and is in essence sewage food!

The only additive we know of that is 100% natural, chemical free, does not kill bacteria and contains no dye is SolBio.

In the event that you do not wish to use an approved product do please use our toilets instead. They are up near the barn (two white doors). Or alternatively you may decide to use no additive at all which would actually improve our plant when you empty it and is to be encouraged.
