Open from 1st April until 30th September.

Abbotts View Alpacas is an adult only site where the focus is on peace, quiet and relaxation. We are located inAston Abbotts, the winner of bucks best kept village three years on the trot. With high hopes for this year too.

We breed alpacas and also have ducks, ponies, rare breed sheep and pigs, pygmy goats, guinea pigs and rabbits at the farm. The CL is next to our alpaca paddocks where you’ll be able to watch alpacas and their cria (baby alpacas) gently grazing. Due to their very inquisitive nature you will no doubt have them watching you too and they are particularly fond of laughing at people's reversing techniques!

There are 18 National trust attractions within a 30 minute drive of the site with Waddesdon manor just 10 minutes away and Ascott House just 4 miles. Woburn Abbey and Safari park is a 20 minute drive. There are many other attractions within easy reach including the very popular Bletchley Park (home of the code breakers).

London is just a 30 minute train ride from nearby Leighton Buzzard. We are just 5 miles from the market town of Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury and 17 miles from Milton Keynes.

There is access to several countryside walks via the public footpaths just outside the main gate, one of which leads to the village green with easy access to the church. The neighbouring villages of Wingrave and Cublington are within walking distance and both have excellent pubs (with many more village pubs and restaurants just a short drive away).

Aston Abbotts is well known for cycling. Many cycling competitions include Aston Abbotts on their route.

The site is on high ground with beautiful views of the Chiltern Hills and Dunstable Downs. Overhead are many species of bird including red kites, barn owls, tawny owls with many other species in the nearby woodland including bull finch, chaffinch and woodpeckers. Light pollution is very low which allows for some spectacular skies at night and extremely quiet except for the noises of animals at night and the church bells during the day.

The site is flat and laid to lawn (awnings with breathable groundsheets only please). There is a freshwater point within the field and direct gated access to the toilet disposal point. The elevated location gives wonderful views. You are advised to use storm straps on your awning if strong winds are forecast.

We have two onsite toilets, one of which is wheelchair accessible. We have our own ecological sewage treatment system which produces clean water for the local pond. It digests waste using naturally occurring bacteria and requires that you use a green environmentally friendly toilet additive (or maybe use no additive at all). There are several now available on the market. We always have plenty of our favourite additive (Blue Bio) in stock onsite should you need to purchase some.

Please ensure that your chemical loo is empty of any anti bacterial toilet chemicals before arriving as we cannot dispose of chemicals on site.

The farm is 100% powered by solar and wind. Electrical hook ups are 6 Amps/1.4KW. This is plenty for most users but you will need to use your gas for heating when the weather gets colder.

The site is secure with CCTV cameras and an electric gate. A key fob will be provided for the electric gate.

We have additional parking available for visitors or an extra car by arrangement.
There is no charge for a motorhome with an additional car in tow.

Please ensure you read about our Chemical and Power policy  before booking.

Minimum stay: No minimum stay but we kindly request that single night bookings try and avoid weekends and bank holiday weekends.
Children: No Children, Adult Only
Dogs: No dogs as the CL is surrounded by alpacas and free range ducks. We do have two small dogs of our own.
Other pets: Please ask. For example, we have successfully had people with house cats (that stay in) but cats that go out have caused the alpacas to alarm call all night which keeps everybody up and causes the animals stress.

Cost: £18 per night per pitch.
Power: All pitches have electrical hook up. (6 Amp)
All pitches are grass (please call ahead to check ground in wet weather, especially for Motorhomes).

Last entry at 20:00 please.
Depart before 11:00 AM please.

All bookings are now made online.

  • Abbotts View Farm
How to find us

How to find us: If you are using google maps then simply search for Abbotts View Alpacas and it will bring you to our doorstep.
Manual Directions:
  • on A418 travelling from Aylesbury towards Leighton Buzzard (5 miles from both towns). Turn left sign posted Aston Abbotts and Cublington.
  • After approx 1 mile you will enter Aston Abbotts and pass a thatched pub (The Royal Oak) on your right. Be careful of oncoming traffic just past here as the road narrows and it is not obvious.
  • SatNav will direct you to take the next left turn onto The Green; ignore this. It is a residential cut through and parked cars can make it difficult for caravans. (motorhomes will be fine).
  • Instead, continue for 40 yds passing the bus stop and post box then take the next left at the village green sign posted "Weedon (gated road)".  Keep left.
  • Pass the next 2 left hand turns (the first is The Green but there is no sign, the 2 second is Hunters Way.) You are now on Moat Lane.
  • After approx 150yds turn right into a farm track road sign posted for Norduck House and Abbotts View Farm. If you miss it you will go around a sharp bend to the left and through the gate of the gated road.
  • Continue down the track, pass the driveway entrance to the cottages on your right.
  • Abbotts View Farm is the next turn on your right (approx 350 yds) just before the blue sign on the fence.
  • Beware: If you have an old garmin SatNav the post code will take you to a different Moat Lane in another village about 5 miles away!
Electrics and ChemicalsElectrics and ChemicalsElectrics and Chemicals
We produce our own electricity using solar and wind which means we have to be very careful using it. We do have a diesel generator but it is extremely expensive to run and we don't really want to install electricity meters and charge for power (the per unit cost would shock you at 70p per unit). So, to try end encourage reduced electricity usage we have installed 6Amp breakers which is equivalent to 1.4KW, 1400 Watt breakers. This will enable you to use lights, fridge, low power kettle, water pump, battery charging, microwave but will not allow for high current draws like heaters. So, no electric space heaters, high power water heaters or house hold style kettles. For heating and cooking please use gas. Most truma water heaters will be fine but we'd really appreciate it if you used gas and switched things off when not in use, especially overnight (when the sun has gone in).

Our eco farm has a bio sewage treatment plant that uses naturally occurring bacteria to break down waste and feeds the clean water into a pond. So we have to be extremely careful not to upset the balance. It's like a brewery with yeast on top and gets very upset if the microbes are killed off by any anti bacterial products. Just one empty of a harmful product will kill the system and cost us £250 to have it emptied and reset.

Traditional blue chemical loo additives all kill bacteria as do anti bacterial hand soaps, anti bac washing up liquid, pink flush additive, etc. Please do not use these onsite. Even many 'green' additives become damaging once they react with waste.

Instead, you will need to use an approved bio toilet additive. Not all chemicals listed as green or eco can be used here. We have contacted most manufacturers and have an approved loo additive list available here. If it's not on the list then please do not use it.

We have also recently (2022) found what is a superb 100% natural product called SolBio. It smells wonderful and contains no dye or anti bacterial properties. But instead contains microbes that devour your waste and gives off a nice smell. We now stock this as a product. At first glance it seems expensive but it is equal cost, per dose, to most other products. We have bought it in bulk and offer it to you at bulk buy cost of £14 per 0.8L bag (20 does). If you like it let us know and we will buy the larger bags for you which work out more cost effective. Even the bag is bio degradable.

Also in 2022 BlueBio have listened to our feedback and have produced a product with no dye (the original blue bio product contained dye which is harmful for pond life). It is the same blue bio that you may have purchased before but with no dye added. This is great news as dye can remain in and colour water which in many off grid systems will eventually make it's way into the watercourse, ponds, etc. It is chemical based (unlike solbio which is 100% natural
) but is designed to react with microbes (human waste) in much the same way as our treatment plant does. We've got some in stock and bought bulk to keep the price the same and a 500Ml squeezy bottle is available for £10.00 (25 doses). There is also a large bottle available to refill and recycle your squeezy bottle and that brings the per dose cost down significantly. If you'd like us to get the large bottles in stock please let us know.

Some customers simply don't use a chemical additive in their loo and use our on site toilets which are accessible 24x7 and have hot running water. (no shower)

Please ensure that your toilet cassette is free of anti bacterial chemicals before arriving. We cannot dispose of chemicals onsite.

I am have compiled a list of additives which are safe to use.
Nasty things to watch out for include:
Colouring/dye (harms aquatic life), Biocides, surfactants, Formaldehyde, Glutaraldehyde (pentane dial), Bronopol, Quat Salts and Chlorotriazaazonia Adamantane (Anything that ends in hyde or cide!).
2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1 (bromopropionic acid, often found in 'green' products) this becomes formaldehyde when it reacts.

If it's not on the list please do not use it.  Even bottles that state septic tank safe, formaldehyde free might not be suitable.
